“I have been kayaking for over twenty years enjoying both white water kayaking and sea paddling. Brought up in the North East of England, I now live in Oban for one reason: the vast potential for sea kayaking here. Sea kayaking is my passion and I feel very privileged to guide small groups of people around our diverse coastline.”

Explore by Sea Kayak

There is an immense sense of freedom and wellbeing from journeying through the water in a fast, sleek sea kayak, propelled by your own paddle strokes. The coastline opens up before you – rocky outcrops, sandy beaches, sheer cliffs, sea caves. I still gain immense pleasure in looking back to see a curious seal following my kayak, a cormorant drying his wings on a rock or admiring a headland covered in the deepest pink sea thrift.

An Ideal New Pastime

Sea kayaking is growing in popularity and it’s easy to see why. It's an ideal leisure pursuit for people who love the outdoors and are looking for a new, low impact sport.

Qualified Guide

Your enjoyment and your safety are paramount to me. I am a Scottish Canoe Association qualified coach who lives just outside Oban. I currently guide trips around the Oban area for beginner, intermediate and advanced level sea kayakers, taking up to four paddlers in a group. I am also involved in local club activities to develop the confidence and skills of local paddlers.

Local Knowledge

I have personal knowledge of the trips that I guide on. As a local guide, I know the coastline, the effects of wind and tide. I know where to land for a scenic break ... and can tell you where all the best local pubs and cafes are!
